Casting Call – The Wolves

The Howland Company and Crow’s Theatre are seeking woman-identified or non-binary performers to play highschool-aged women’s soccer team. Soccer or other athletic experience an asset, please note any experience on your cover letter. Only actors selected for an audition will be contacted and given an appointment and material to prepare.

Character Breakdown:
#11 Midfield. Brainy, morbid, budding elitist, thoughtful.
#25 Defense, Captain. Classic (ex)coach’s daughter.
#13 Midfield. Stoner, older pot dealer brother, into her wackiness.
#46 Bench. New girl. Awkward, different, just wants to fit in.
#2 Defense. Innocent, unlucky, kind, skinny.
#7 Striker. Too cool for school. Sarcastic, thick eyeliner.
#14 Midfield. #7’s insecure sidekick. Just switched to contacts.
#8 Defense. Plays dumber than she is.
#00 Goalie. Intense performance anxiety, perfectionist, high achiever. Seventeen

Left quad. Right quad. Lunge. A girls indoor soccer team warms up. From the safety of their stretch circle, nine girls navigate and question the world around them with the determination of warriors. This provocative play, nominated for the 2017 Pulitzer Prize, captures the profound beauty of adolescence and paints a portrait of nuanced young women navigating the game, their lives and a growing understanding of a complicated world.
